Frequently Asked Questions
+ What are your credentials?
I received in-depth training and state certification from Hypnotherapy Academy of America, a Fellow of the International Board of Hypnotherapy (FIBH), and hold a Master of Fine Arts, Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma. As of January 31, 2023 I have delivered more than 6,000 hours of hypnosis and hypnotherapy.
+ How are you different from a hypnotist?
I spend time getting to know my clients. During a consultation the client gets to know who I am, what I do and how I do it. I create therapuetic suggestions based on the goals of the clients; I'm not a "one-size-fits-all" hypnotherapist. My goal is to help, teach and serve people that are truly ready for change. Sessions are paced based on the needs of the client.
+ I've heard some people can't go under hypnosis. Is that true?
Hypnosis is a natural occurance that most people experience several times each day: just before falling asleep at night, daydreaming, zoning-out while driving or watching t.v. If you are a person with average intelligence and WANT to be hypnotized, you can be hypnotized.
+ Will I do weird things I wouldn't normally do?
You could if you WANT to, but I'd rather spend our time moving you toward your goal! Seriously though, these kind of ideas are based on stage hypnotism and Hollywood fiction. In reality, the people who volunteer to go on stage, also allow themselves to participate in silly suggestions. Hypnosis with me is a serious process of self-improvement, not entertainment.
+ How long does each session last?
It depends on the client and their goals. I ask each client to plan about 2 hours for the first session and 90 minutes for each additional session. I offer a fixed rate for each session so my clients can relax and enjoy time for themselves.
+ How long before I can expect results?
Many of my clients experience a noticeable difference or make permanent improvements immediately or in a relatively quick period. However, there is no such thing as a one-time "Hypno-Miracle!” Hypnosis has a cumulative effect; the more you do it (take home assignments), the greater the individual's ability. Each person makes progress at their own pace. Be wary of those who make wild claims of overnight success.
+ Is this something I can learn to do on my own?
As mentioned before, you already go into states of hypnosis many times each day, so you are ALREADY doing this on your own. By working with me and using your OWN capabilities, you can easily learn to get to a state of hyper-awareness. If you want to check out what I do and how hypnotherapy works, go to Meetup.com and find Oklahoma City Clinical Hypnotherapy. I offer many low and no-cost events. You can also find my hypnosis on my YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@okchypno-renaecerquitella7188/) channel or search Renae Cerquitella.
+ Do you take insurance?
I am approved to accept Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Spending Accounts (HSA) as well as all other forms of payment. I do not take or process insurance, but will provide you with the documentation to file with your insurance carrier. If you want to file with your insurance, call them and see what they cover. Many of my clients report that their insurance plans cover 70-80% up to six sessions. Of course, this varies between insurance plans. Payment plans are also available.
+ Do you do any other type of therapy, like talk therapy?
I’m a Hypnotherapist and a Behavioral Health and Relationship Coach, so my expertise is in hypnosis, relationship building and communication. Although my clients and I talk about their goals and action steps, I am not licensed to practice family or individual counseling or therapy. I do work closely and partner with other medical, healthcare and mental health practitioners. My clients may request record sharing with their medical, healthcare and mental health practitioners.
